Review Movie - Aladdin

In this blog I want to tell about my review about a film entitled "Aladdin". But in this section, I'm not review it alone, but I review it with my group, Ananda Laila. Aladdin is an American musical fantasy film produced by Walt Disney Pictures and released in 2019. The movie is directed by Guy Ritchie and John August as scriptwriter. It stars Will Smith, Naomi Scott and Mena Massoud. This film is a live-action adaptation of Disney's animated film of the same name, Aladdin, which was released in 1992. Aladdin has earned USD 1 billion since its first screening worldwide, making it the ninth highest-grossing film of 2019.

At the beginning of the story, it is shown that there is a scene of an ocean liner sailing. Inside the ship contains a happy little family. They gather on the ship, then the father tells an old fairy tale to his children. He told them about a genie and a magic lamp. It was told that a long time ago on the Arabian Peninsula, there was a great kingdom called Agrabah. The story of Aladdin begins here. Aladdin was a young man who was known as unemployed. Every day he walked around the market and liked to steal other people's goods with his monkey named Abu. One day, as he was walking along the market, he came across a girl who was in trouble. She was accused by the royal guards that she bought something but did not pay for it. Although Aladdin liked to steal, he still had a humanitarian spirit, so he helped the girl. He took the gold bracelet that the girl was wearing to the royal guards. But after being given, he took the bracelet again and ran away. After escaping pursuit, they rested somewhere and got acquainted. The girl introduced herself as Dahlia, a servant in the kingdom of Agrabah. but without knowing it, she turned out to be Jasmin, a son of the sultan of the kingdom of Agrabah.

On the other hand, a lawyer trusted by the sultan named Ja'far turned out to have a cunning mission, namely to overthrow the sultan and become sultan in the kingdom of Agrabah. He once heard a story about a magic lamp that was in a cave located on the sand. The lamp is inhabited by a genie. If someone can have the lamp, then the genie in the lamp will grant all his requests only by rubbing the lamp up to 3 times. However, the request has a limit of only 3 requests so the owner of the lamp must really think about what the request is. At that time Aladdin sneaked into the kingdom to return the bracelet that had been stolen by his monkey at the market, when he was about to return his existence was discovered by Ja'far and the royal guards. From there Ja'far learned of Aladdin's prowess in stealing an object and then with his cunning idea he asked for Aladdin's cooperation and told him about the great magic lamp. Aladdin felt so interested that he would use the opportunity to ask the genie so that he could marry Princess Jasmine.

They found a flying carpet, treasures and diamonds in the cave, but they were only allowed to take the lamp, if they took other treasures then the cave would collapse and they would be trapped in the cave forever. After arriving at the place where the magic lamp was, aladin tried to take the lamp which was on the top of a high rock. But when he almost reached the rock, his monkey was attracted by the rubies and took it. The cave shook violently, fortunately they were saved by the magic carpet and made it to the exit. Immediately he said his biggest request was to become a prince so he could marry princess jasmin. Genie immediately turned Aladdin into a prince named Ali and had a great sultan named Ababwa. various challenges and rejections were passed by Prince Ali but he never gave up. until finally Princess Jasmine felt melted and she agreed to marry Prince Ali.

The film is presented in an interesting way because it is often accompanied by singing or dancing, making the film colorful and not boring. The setting used in this movie is in accordance with the story being told, which is set in the Middle East. This movie has been packaged nicely in various aspects. This movie needs to be appreciated because it is consistent in the story and the unhurried flow makes the audience enjoy watching it. Moral messages can also be taken easily from the movie that he told this time, such as do not easily trust other people and should not be greedy, must share with each other if you have excess favors and don't ever give up to reach our dreams. Every scene in the movie feels more intense and makes the audience feel it, such as tense chase scenes, scenes of people being tied up, pushed hard, almost drowning to one murder scene where a man is pushed into a dark well, scenes of caves collapsing and spewing lava, guards with guns to giant birds attacking savages and many other tense scenes. In addition, there are also many romantic scenes that make the audience feel and get carried away in the movie. Therefore, in Indonesia this movie is rated R13 or Remaja 13 keatas because of the dangerous and romantic scenes that can challenge and have a bad influence on minors. But overall this movie is very good and recommended. Especially for someone who wants to start learning English can watch this movie as a learning medium that can help them. Because the language used is simple English in everyday conversation, there may be some words that are still unfamiliar but it will actually increase their vocabulary.
